What is Village Banking?

Village Banking is a way for people who know and trust each other (like friends, coworkers, or neighbours) to save and borrow money together without needing a traditional bank. Members contribute to a shared pool, take out loans, and share the interest earned. 

What are the benefits of Village Banking?

 It’s flexible, community-driven, and built on trust. You get access to savings and credit without relying on banks or expensive lenders, Just your group.

How does ComGrow solve common problems with Village Banking?

We digitise everything:  transactions, automated and real-time tracking, loan approvals, and secure mobile payouts. No more messy notebooks or confusion.

Is ComGrow a bank?

Nope. We’re a licensed fintech platform. We’re not a bank, but we work with payment partners to handle secure transactions.

How old do I need to be to use ComGrow Village Banking App?

You must be 18 or older to register and join a group.

What info do I need to register?

Your name, phone number, and NRC or other ID. Your number must be linked to a mobile money wallet.

What if I want to use ComGrow but don’t have a group yet?

No problem, you’re not alone. While ComGrow currently works through existing groups, we’re actively working on solutions to help connect people like you. In the meantime, register your interest here so we can notify you as soon as this feature is live.

Using the ComGrow App


Download the app on Android or iOS

You must sign up as an individual user before you can use our village banking app. If using the app, you will see a  which will give you quick tips on how to navigate each screen. Still unsure? Watch our demo or explore the step-by-step tutorials.

How do I create a group?

Log in and tap 'Create Group'. Set your group name, rules, and invite members.

How do I invite others to join?

Click on your group card, there is a "+ Members" button in the top right of the screen. Be sure to only add people you know and trust.

How many people can be in a group?

Most groups have 10–30 members. Your constitution can define this. However, the app allows you to have up to 50 people in a group.

Can I be in more than one group?

Yes! You can  be a part of a maximum 5 groups on the app.

How do I save or repay money?

Use the 'Save' or 'Repay' button in the 'Quick Actions', in your group dashboard, or hitting the opposing arrow button at the bottom of your screen, enter the amount, and confirm via mobile money.

How do I borrow or request a payout?

Use the 'Loan' or 'Payout' button in the 'Quick Actions', in your group dashboard, or hitting the opposing arrow button at the bottom of your screen, enter the amount, and confirm via mobile money.

How do I leave a group?

You must have a balance of K0 on your account (have repaid all outstanding loans, and paid out all remaining cash) and then you can click "Exit Group" from your group dashboard.

Loan and Transaction Features


How often can I transact (Save, Borrow, Repay, Payout)?

The app enables you to transact whenever, so, as often as your group allows. Most run weekly or monthly. 

Are there transaction limits?

Yes. They are set according to the carrier you are using's limits. E.g. K5,000 per transaction for Airtel, K10,000 for MTN and Zamtel.

How much can I borrow?

It depends on your group balance and rules. Your loan entitlement is based on a multiple of your current balance at the time of taking a loan. That multiple is the the figure that is in your group rules. 

Can I take multiple loans?

Only if your group allows it and you meet the criteria. But ye, there is a setting to take multiple loans.

When do I repay my loan?

Your repayment dates are set by your group. The app will automatically display a repayment schedule to pay in equal instalments and will remind you when payments are due.

What happens if someone defaults?

Groups can set their own penalties. ComGrow tracks defaults, everyone gets notified, and the group decides on action.

How long does it take to get a loan or payout?

Once approved, funds typically arrive in seconds. If delayed, check your group’s approval status.

Can I view previous transactions?

Yes. Your entire transaction history is saved under your Financial Report tab.

Do I get notified about activity?

Yes. Real-time app notifications keep you updated on all group activities and changes.

Troubleshooting & Support


What if I make a mistake in a transaction?

Make sure to double check all details before confirming a transaction. Once it’s sent, it’s hard to reverse. If it’s a genuine mistake, don’t panic. Just submit a ticket with the correct information and we’ll do our best to help.

I was charged from my mobile money wallet but it’s not showing in the app. What do I do?

Don’t worry, sometimes transactions take a bit longer to reflect. Submit a ticket with your full name, the number you used to transact, and a screenshot of the completed transaction. We’ll trace it for you. This process may take up to 48 hours to resolve.
